Training
Since January 2007 a number of learning initiatives have been set up at Hamara.
We began with ‘What’s cooking in Beeston’; this activity was planned and delivered in partnership with Vera Media. Other activities, delivered through learning initiatives with Aspire, included:
- Preparation for Citizenship**
- Basic English with Computers
- Beauty with IT
- Cultural Arts for Women.
- Mehndi course
**A new legislation has been introduced in which from April 2nd 2007, any adult who applies for indefinite leave to remain in the UK will be subject to the new requirements to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the english language and life in the UK. Those requirements can be met by those applicants who have English language ability at ESOL entry level three or greater. If an applicant's english ability is not sufficient to read and understand the life in the UK test, they will have to successfully complete a special course that will cover both english tuition as well as knowledge about life in the UK. This includes all adults aged 18 - 65, spouses and partners of those on work permits.
The current cost of this course stands at £34. This course however is offered free of charge at Hamara so if this applies to you, take action now! These courses will allow you to:
- Learn about UK culture, law, government and everyday life
- Work towards the Life in the UK test
- Practice English for Citizenship in a friendly environment
- Learn ICT skills for learning and taking the test
