CALLING ALL WOMEN
The ultimate aim of the Older People’s project is to improve the quality of life of the elderly BME community and an important component of this is health and well being. Hamara endeavors to employ a variety of methods to enhance self esteem and independence in the longer term
There is a need to overcome the stereotype amongst some mainstream service providers that BME communities ‘look after their own’.
Although families and friends assist in the vital role of providing emotional and instrumental support, they too often lack understanding of complex service structures and access to information.
The elderly project proposes to fill this void by providing quality services in the areas of:
• Training and education
• Advice and information raises awareness, access to information and empowers
• Social and Leisure services
• Preventative ill health measures
• Health promotion, advice and screening act as a catalyst to take ownership/control of measures that aid healthy living
